Fashionably adorned in winter white and tasty chocolate the “Who’s Who Baltimore- business
professionals, NFL players, club goers, deejays, promoters and style makers arrived at the Lodge Bar in Baltimore’s
Power Plant Live on December 17th. Altitude 2006 also known as “Hot Chocolate & Whipped Cream”
was hosted by Social Butterfly, Coors Light and The Flywire. It was live! Oh it was live! The Flywire created a Ski Chalet
in the heart of the city. From the way the red carpet was lit by luminaries leading to a gigantic snowflake gateway with mountains,
snow and more snowflakes—the entry was breathtaking. Guest walked passed an outdoor fire pit and igloo lounge chairs,
outdoor champagne bar and cocktail seating before entering the log cabin. Icicles, moose heads, ski racks, oversized ornaments,
dazzling lights and Christmas trees were a few details of the holiday décor.
The event was sold out in advance with standing room only and a long line waiting at the door. Non-ticket
holders stood in line for hours waiting for a break to get in. The Flywire managed to amass a befitting year-end event to
rival any event of the past. I dare not say the future because as we all know each Flywire event is different and better than
the last. Fur, leather, couture, vintage, old school, new school and designer originals walked the red carpet! Social Butterfly
donned a cream sweater and chocolate suede down designed by Natalie Grahams’ House of Rag Dolls. Wendy and Shanna Marshall
of the Flywire team were dressed in couture by Baltimore’s own designer Anton Dorsey. Others were styled by the hottest
boutiques in the city like, Doll House, Bendetto, Katwalk, Sole 2 Soul, Star Won, Absolut, Urban Majestic and more!
Ladies let me tell you there was a lot of power
and handsome men in the place including several Baltimorean NFL players, including veteran Keion Carpenter, Antonio Freeman
and rookie Jason Murphy. Baltimore’s own favorite lawyer Warren Brown and his lovely wife Donyelle, LaRain Finney, CEO
of Visionary Marketing Group, Delegate Nathaniel Oaks, Cedric Tucker; COO of BCTT: Robyn Marks, director of NexNow Television
Productions; Celebrity Jewelers Marty Mason and Jbeady; The Coors Light Girls, former 92Q DJ’s Troy Johnson and Erika
Kane; along with Radio One’s current team of Lady on-air personalities Neke @ Nite, Sonjay and the newest female mixer
DJ Cynamixx were in the house.
The evening’s hosts were Baltimore’s own “The Franchise” DJ Jay Claxton and New
Orleans Native Loni. Both from 92q’s Prime Time show. Even Erika Kane was on the job as she captured the atmosphere
for her radio station in Philadelphia. Funny, inside on the numerous flat screens you could watch as Philadelphia trampled
the Giants. Comedian Meshelle from Bet entertained the crowd by giving away digital cameras, MP3 players and a flat screen
TV before the entry of dance party host DJ Jay “JCleazy” Claxton. Claxton kept the party rocking as DJ Lil Mic
kept the music tight! The duo took the crowd from Slick Rick to Lil Wayne, from new B-More Club songs to Odell’s old
school house and club. The
music was right and the hosts were dressed in the height of fashion. Very uncommon for deejays, both gentlemen wore suits
to work. Mr. Claxton sported a chocolate, gold & tan pinstripe suit with a bright gold silk tie and handkerchief from
Bendetto Menswear.
The Lodge Bar afforded
its guest the comforts of little niches tucked away in every corner like the ski bench, indoor fire place, lounges in the mini log cabins an on the party stages.
. Food d’jour catered by JD Ward Catering was The “Mashed Potato Martini Bar.”
What a hit! The Martini Bar served fried chicken, mashed and sweet potatoes with all the fixings. How chic? Dinner in a martini
glass. Everyone from Diddy to the Flywire is doing it. Outside on the promenade the fireplace lounge and patio heaters kept
those who choose to mingle outside warm and toasty. Signature holiday drinks, a premium cash bar and Coors Light were served
to partygoers of this Flywire event! Gift bags including Flywire “I’m So Fly” coffee mugs, gift cards and
certificates, t-shirts, hats, car visor CD holders, music and more. It was VIP treatment for the fortunate that were inside
the Snowflake gates.
If you managed to get your picture snapped the Flywire’s
Staff Photographer “Wilscola” or videotaped by Platinum TV, maybe just maybe your picture will appear in this
issue of the Flywire magazine or you’ll be seen on the TV screen.
This was a Flywire event that you should not have missed! I can’t wait for 2007.
